Happy New Year and let’s hope it is better than 2020.

1. KNBC Business

A) Membership renewals

As we begin 2021, you should have received an email asking you to renew your membership. There are still lots of advantages to joining as we continue to adjust to the COVID-19 pandemic. See below for info on our January social event.

Issues with payment gateway

Some members have been having trouble with failed transactions with renewing their memberships and signing up for social events. The typical error has been “invalid postal code”. If this is happening to you, here are some things to try, based on member feedback.

  • If using your phone or tablet, be advised that payments are now supported on the Android app, as well as IOS. i.e. Apple iPhones or iPads.
  • Virtually all failed transactions occur on tablets like iPads or iPhones. Members say they have been successful performing the transaction by moving to a computer.
  • Either make sure you have autofill in your browser disabled, or manually enter the billing details, including postal code, especially on iPhones/iPads.
  • Sometimes adding a middle space between the 6 postal code characters works. Other times the exact opposite works. Your mileage may vary.
  • Debit cards are not accepted.

B) FaceBook

With 2021 upon us, we all hope for a gradual return to normalcy. Given the added importance of virtual socializing in these pandemic times, we are putting more focus on Facebook. KNBC is changing how we manage our Facebook page. In the past few years, there were 3 separate locations where members could go to look at, upload pictures or post about their rides. (Believe it or not!) Many members did not know they could post or upload, or even where to look. To clear up the confusion, we’ve consolidated everything to one location.

From now on, all KNBC Facebook information will be directed to our “Sports Page” at https://www.facebook.com/knbc.ca This is the page that shows up on the club website homepage, so you should be familiar with it. All other pages will be deleted or made private.

Any member is allowed to add pictures and provide a story with it. We have 5 Editor/Moderators who will review the pictures and posts before publishing, so there may be a small delay. In addition, we are now monitoring all Facebook messaging. Most of the messages we receive are membership related, so we will focus on providing that information in a timely manner.

We encourage you to go take a look. A 2020 retrospective in pictures has been added to kick off the New Year. Cheers, Your KNBC Executive
