Ordering KNBC Clothing at AGM, Nov. 5

Size samples will be available to try on at the AGM, and a club clothing order will be made by November 10th for delivery before Christmas. If people can't make it to the AGM they should e-mail Linda Kennedy at to arrange a fitting if needed and tell her what they would like to order. Also, there will be a chance to order the more generic “Canada” shorts that were designed for the 2017 France trip. Article: Explorer Mario Rigby just cycled across Canada. Here’s why

Mario Rigby walked 12,000 kilometres across Africa — yes, walked — from South Africa to Egypt between November 2015 and early 2018, learning much along the way about local African communities. Later in 2018, he was recognized by the UN as part of its International Decade for People of African Descent initiative. And, this week, Rigby completed a 7,000-kilometre unsupported cycling expedition across Canada to raise awareness about sustainable transportation.

2. In Memoriam

Former KNBC member, Beti Darvell-Jones, passed away last August, at the grand age of 89. Betty was an avid cyclist who made great contributions to the KNBC as tour leader, executive member and as educator on all things cycling-related. She was a positive role model, as well the life and soul of any gathering, with her friendliness, humour and wit. Betty joined the KNBC in the early 90's and amazed us by cycling across Canada with the CCCTS around 1995. She moved out west in the year 2000 but kept in touch with some members until just a year or two ago. We remember Beti with great admiration and fondness.
