1. The Rides (July 2 - 8)
Changes in the tour schedule may occur at short notice. Please check the Club Calendar on the website, as well as your email, prior to heading to a start location. Typically, Bike Shorts Extras will not be sent out for cancellations or short notice ride additions. Instead, cancellations and additions will be reflected on the calendar, as soon as the Tour Director or Assistant Tour Director is notified. Additionally, if a ride gets cancelled or changed, you will be notified by email, providing you have registered on it using the “Register” button.
Tour leaders are reminded to contact the Tour Director at: tour-director@knbc.ca if any changes are required to their ride.
Full details on all rides can be found on the KNBC Club Calendar of rides and events on the KNBC website. The KNBC Calendar, containing the most up to date info on your rides, is located at https://knbc.ca/page-18460

2. Safety tip from Monna – Riding in the heat
When riding in hot weather – steer clear of the ‘repair areas’ of cracks and paving seams. They are injected with hot tar or asphalt, which tends to soften considerable in the heat. This can actually 'grab and trap' your tires, much like railway track, and cause a very sudden nasty fall.
Also - to avoid 'bonking', don't forget to carry sufficient water and drink BEFORE you are thirsty and eat BEFORE you are hungry.

2020 Multi-day cycling tour of UK: Seeking expressions of interest
KNBC L2 Ride in England
Barrie Kirk is doing early-stage research for a 2-week L2 KNBC bike tour around part of England in Spring 2020. It will be a typical Barrie-style L2 tour with stops for touristy things and pub lunches. The ride will make extensive use of the Sustrans biking and hiking network -- 25,000 km of trails and bike-friendly roads all over the UK -- but we will only need a small part of this. See https://www.sustrans.org.uk/map-ncn At this time, Barrie does not know the exact dates, the cost, or the route (except it will likely be in the southern part of England). It will be a touring ride, but no decision yet on whether it will be self-supported or if we will have a sag wagon. In some places, we may spend 2-3 nights in one place and do hub-and-spoke rides before moving on. There will also be rest days so we can be tourists with little or no biking.
If you are interested (no commitment at this time) and want to be on the mailing list for more information, please write to barrie.kirk@gmx.com
4. KNBC Website
Member Forum
We've added a new member forum for members to ask questions and discuss ideas. Topics include things like setting up impromptu rides, giving feedback on rides, suggestions for potlucks or pool parties, ideas for new rides, best lights for a bike, issues with bike paths, etc. You can subscribe to the forum or individual topics and receive updates on an immediate, daily or weekly basis. Creating a topic is as simple as clicking the Create Topic button.
The club executive reserves the right to moderate and review all topics and submissions. This is not a spot to have political debates or argue one's point. You can find it under the Member Services menu. Let us know what you think.
5. KNBC Photo contest
We have a volunteer to run a photo contest to showcase the skills and aesthetics of our KNBC members. We are a good looking group of cyclists that travel in many beautiful communities on our club rides. I am sure there are many cool photos you have on our phones that have been taken during club rides. There is nothing more beautiful than the sight of smiling cyclist commuting on two wheels; share them and let us see! You could win a prize and have your photo placed on the front of our new jazzy website.
