Bike Shorts will be published every 2 weeks over the winter.  Next issue will be Feb. 11.

The KNBC Winter Social was well attended on Saturday. Big thanks go to Janet Clark, Dave Audette, Pete Blancher, France Brulé, Zita Gervais and Stéphane for organizing the event, greeting folks, and accepting membership information. Also thanks to the following people and organizations who donated prizes for the evening and/or contributed to the trivia game: Janet Clark, Dave Audette, JoJo Chapman, Linda Kennedy, Ron Simard,  Maureen Edwards and Michael McGoldrick, Bushtukah, G.M. Bertrand  Bicycles and the host restaurant ALE.  Look for some photos on the club’s FB page and on the web page.

The year is 1534 and nobles and commoners alike are turning their backs on ancient, even sacred beliefs and bowing to the wishes of King Henry VIII in his quest to break with the Catholic Church and marry Anne Boleyn. Many will sign the “Oath of Supremacy” in order to court the favour of a red headed bully. Sir Thomas Moore cannot in good conscience comply.

2. Cycling tours

KNBC does NOT show any preferences for any touring companies. There are too many of them.

Grand Tour Desjardins, Vélo Québec  - Saguenay – Lac-Saint-Jean, August 3-9, 2019

Cycling Cabot Trial, Velo Cape Breton : July 26-29, 2019

France 2019 May 20 - June 6

KNBC members Tom Seniuk, Steve Caron and Tim Sparling have planned another cycling trip in the south of France travelling from Toulouse to Marseille.  About half the trip is along a route we did a few years ago while the other half is new.  The plan is to depart Montreal on 20 May, returning from Marseille on 6 Jun.  We will spend one extra day in Toulouse upon arrival, have our day off in Orange and spend one day in Marseille.

The flyer describing the route is attached.  France cycling trip 2019 - flyer.pdf This trip would be suitable for L3-L5 riders, although L2 riders who like to ride 100 kms would also enjoy the trip.

The group will be capped at 14.  If you are interested, or have any questions, please contact Tim at

Multi-day tours in 2019

If you are planning a multi-day tour in 2019, please let me know ( so we can start to put tentative dates of events in the calendar and in Bike Shorts.  I will not be organizing a trip to Niagara, but most of the work has already been done so someone (moderately brave) could take it on.

The club has done trips to Ottawa Valley (Barry’s Bay, Pembroke), Kingston, Mt. Tremblant, Niagara, Hudson to Montreal, Le P'tit Train du Nord, Prince Edward County (Picton), Lake Placid and other locations. Peterborough is close by.  Just look at a map ;)
