Quote of the week: “I don’t have a bucket list but my bikeit list is a mile long.” (from ‘I love bicycling’ webpage)
1. Changes to the club’s executive
Tom Wiley has resigned as Tour Director. The Executive wants to extend to him a sincere thanks for all the work he has done for us. It’s a tough job at the best of times, let alone during a pandemic.
The Executive is pleased to announce that Wayne Lumsden has agreed to take on the role as Interim Tour Director. Wayne will be contacting each of the current Tour Leaders this week to explain his short term approach for offering club rides. Previous Tour Leaders or anyone interested in becoming a Tour Leader, please contact Wayne at tour-director(at)knbc.ca.
2. Safety tip from Monna – Riding in a group - But thinking like an individual
Some of us may be riding in a group again. When riding in a group, we may turn off the brain and mindlessly follow the person in front of us. With 80% of accidents occurring at intersections - it is imperative we stay alert and take ownership of our own personal safety when crossing or turning at an intersection. What might have been adequate time for the riders in front to turn or cross - may no longer be the case for you. Be sure to assess each situation individually and make the decision for your own safety.
