Tour Director News

The official kick off to the KNBC cycling season is just around the corner. Given the slow start to spring, the intent is to have the official season kick-off ride the weekend of Apr 13.

Prior to the official kick-off, there may be a few pre-season rides offered by some of our very keen and dedicated Tour Leaders. Those rides will be posted in the calendar as they are offered. Please make sure to regularly check the calendar of rides and events on the club website.

Also, due to the fickleness of spring weather, all rides in the months of Apr, May (and perhaps June) will be treated with the same RSVP requirements as remote starts. This means you will need to RSVP to the Tour Leader, if you plan to attend. This worked rather well last season.

LATE BREAKING NEWS: There is already one pre-season ride posted in the club calendar of events and rides. Check it out here: https://knbc.ca/page-18430

1. The Rides (Apr 2-8)

Full details on all rides can be found on the KNBC Club Calendar of rides and events on the KNBC website. The KNBC Calendar, containing the most up to date info on your rides, is located at https://knbc.ca/page-18430

Changes in the tour schedule may occur at short notice, particularly during periods of fickle weather.  Please check the Club Calendar on the website, prior to heading to a start location. Typically, Bike Shorts Extras will not be sent out for cancellations or short notice ride additions. Instead, cancellations and additions will be reflected on the calendar, as soon as the Tour Director or Assistant Tour Director is notified.

Should you have any questions or require more information, contact the KNBC Tour Director at: tour-director@knbc.ca

Tour leaders are reminded to contact the Tour Director ASAP, if any changes are required to their ride.

3. Super keen cyclists

Two people showed up for what may be the first unofficial ride of year for KNBC members. Dave Audette and Michael McGoldrick rode from Centrepointe to Alice's Cafe in Carp and back on March 27.  It was a nice sunny day with a high of plus 5. They used their old clunkers out of fear that they would be riding on wet dirty roads. However, the roads were surprisingly dry all the way to Carp, but there were a few wet stretches on the return route.

4. Multi-day tours in 2019

Prince Edward County multi-day rides
Two multi-day rides around Prince Edward County (aka the Isle of Quinte) are planned for this summer. Some but not all parts of the rides will be similar, but they will have different tour leaders and one will be L2 and other L3.

My daughter, Karen, is looking for a used road bike with a 51 or 52 cm frame for her 10 year old son.

He is 5’ 1’’ tall. She wants to spend under $500. If you can help, please contact her directly at kurlicki@rogers.com
