2. Safety Tip from Monna –What to do and not do, at the scene of an accident
When we are witness to an accident, esp. involving a cyclist, we need to immediately do a visual helmet check (evidence of hitting the ground on the outside, and cracks on the inside), If there is, and if you have seen what seems to be a bad fall; DO NOT let the injured party make decisions for themselves.
They may be in shock, and despite what they may say and/or do - they are simple not capable of making neither accurate assessments nor decisions with regard to their own health. The standard - "I am ok" should NOT be listened to.
It is incumbent on the people around them, to step in, take charge and call 911. It is better to be safe than sorry. For more info on accidents - please refer to the Safety Page on our website.
