2. Safety Tip from Monna – Are you predicable?
Do you ride in a straight line, and do you effectively communicate your intentions BEFORE you change the position (or speed) of your bike (to turn, stop or slow down)?
When riding in a group, it is very distracting and dangerous (to the riders behind you) if you meander back and forth from the edge of the road. Try to ride in as straight a line as possible. If road traffic and speed permit, the ideal position is 3' from the curb or the edge of the asphalt. This will usually keep you clear of most debris and grates.
ALWAYS shoulder check and signal (or shout out) your intentions to slow, stop or turn. Your predictability will greatly assist in preventing accidents.
