NCC Extension of parkway closures

In light of the high number of users, the NCC has decided to extend its weekend parkway closures in Ottawa, and to extend the daily parkway closures in Gatineau Park.

Beginning Saturday, September 12, 2020, the following NCC parkways will be closed to motor vehicle traffic and open for active use on weekends, 8 am to 4 pm, until Sunday, September 27, 2020:

  • Sir John A. Macdonald Parkway (between Carling Avenue and Booth Street)
  • Sir George-Étienne Cartier Parkway (between the Aviation Parkway and St. Joseph Boulevard)
  • Queen Elizabeth Driveway (between Laurier Avenue and Fifth Avenue)

In Gatineau Park, the Gatineau and Champlain parkways will remain open for active users, Monday to Saturday, and on Sunday mornings, and open to motor vehicles from 1 pm until approximately 30 minutes after sunset on Sundays until Friday, September 25, 2020. After that date and until October 25, all parkways will be open to motor vehicle traffic daily, from noon until sunset.
